The Forgiving Heart

Over and over and over, she betrayed his love.

She warned him, “Please let me go; I can only hurt you.” But he ignores her and is hopeful that his love will change her.

Again, he forgives her, and again she breaks his heart.

Again, they scream and fight, and she walks out; again, he runs after her, pleading for forgiveness.

Again, she stayed out all night, and again, he waited for her, hoping she was safe and back home in his arms.

Again, he sees her with her next plaything on their bed and again, he walks out, waiting at the bedroom door, hoping she will run after him, but she never did and never will.

Again, he waits for her as she flirts with the waiter and gives out her mobile number, but he feigns ignorance, smiles, and pays the waiter.

Again, drunk, she calls him a buffoon to his peers, being unimpressive in bed, a defective product of his parents, and how his brother was worthy of praise. His heart breaks, but he forgives her.

Again, she enters his workplace to pick her next playmate, but it will never be him, crushing his already broken heart. Nevertheless, she is already forgiven because he’s got a kind heart.

Again, she calls, telling him she will be late whilst giggling frivolously with another. He closed his eyes tightly, hoping to kill out the sound, but again, all he could say was, “It’s ok darling, have a good time; I love you”, with his forgiving heart bleeding.

Again, she tells him she is pregnant and would like him to come with her for an abortion, but he knows it’s not his and never going to be his, but he forgives her.

Again and repeatedly, he forgives her, hopeful that she will stay with him.

He can never leave her because she is his heart and soul, but She cannot leave him because she needs someone to chase her.

He’s the man with the bleeding, forgiving heart, or one could say a man with a wormhole of a heart that swallows all the betrayals she throws his way.
